Bugatti Cars are Lightning Fast and Astronomically Priced

In 1909, Ettore Bugatti created Bugatti automobiles in Molsheim, Alsace, France. They now are among the most expensive luxury sports cars in history. They also are some of the fastest and most beautiful cars in the world.

Ettore Bugatti

Ettore Bugatti hailed from Milan, Italy, born in 1881. His father was Carlo Bugatti, a furniture designer and sculptor. Ettore showed an early interest in engineering, and he began designing and building cars at a young age. In 1901, he exhibited his first car at an international exhibition in Milan.

The first Bugatti cars had four-cylinder engines, but Ettore soon began trying larger and more powerful engines. In 1910, he introduced the Type 13, which had a six-cylinder engine. The Type 13 helped to establish Bugatti as a leading manufacturer of high-performance cars.

Racing

Bugatti cars also had success in racing. The company won the prestigious Targa Florio race five times between 1922 and 1930. Bugatti also won the Le Mans 24 Hours race in 1929 and 1930.

The Bugatti company closed during World War II, but it re-opened in 1947. The company’s first post-war car was the Type 57, which had a 3.3-liter, eight-cylinder engine. The Type 57 helped to restore Bugatti’s reputation as a leading manufacturer of luxury sports cars.

Bugatti continued to produce cars until 1963, when the company merged with Hispano-Suiza. The Bugatti name resurfaced in 1998, when Volkswagen AG acquired the rights to the brand. Bugatti has since produced a number of new cars, including the Veyron and Chiron, which are among the fastest cars in the world.

Today, Bugatti is a subsidiary of the Rimac Group. The company continues to produce high-performance cars that are known for their beauty, luxury, and performance.

Hispano-Suiza (1963-1998): In 1963, Hispano-Suiza acquired Bugatti. Hispano-Suiza continued to produce Bugatti cars until 1965, but the company was not as successful as it had been under Ettore Bugatti.

Volkswagen AG (1998-2021): In 1998, Volkswagen AG acquired Bugatti. Volkswagen invested heavily in the company and revived the Bugatti brand. Bugatti produced some of its most successful cars under Volkswagen, including the Veyron and Chiron.

Rimac Group (2021-present): In 2021, the Rimac Group acquired Bugatti. Rimac is a Croatian high-performance electric car manufacturer. The Rimac Group plans to continue producing Bugatti cars, emphasizing new electric Bugatti cars.
