Daniel Packer was a seafaring gentleman, born in 1825, in Mystic, Connecticut. He took part in the California gold rush.

In 1869, he introduced “Packer’s All Healing Tar Soap”. Since then it has morphed into “Packer’s Pine Tar Soap”, and now just Packer’s Pine.
